Remodelling Ann Fowlers

DADB27C0-3F5E-4A2B-8896-A415DFBD7BA1Ann Fowlers was the top of our street when I was a little girl I remember the lovely buildings and all the Lady’s how stayed there were from out of town and they had to be in at a certain time I remember if they couldn’t get in the would climb over the railings and I would see them banging on the door.

Iv been learning how to do maps in the Fact all about Liverpool and I have do a welknown building people still talk about it quite often

Future liverpool

last year we  saw the Aleppo village made by a young boy out of card. He made it to show his younger brother how nice the buildings looked before They were wrecked by war.   We decided to recreate our own images from our memories of buildings from our past, we then took  photographs of the image from all angles and uploaded to  computer in 3D image, we made maps and put our building on.

Form and Function

How materials and usage work together in applications and structures. The Third Thumb by Danielle Clode

Creating an extra functional finger to play guitar better than Segovia is a good example of how new ideas can make one think outside the box.

The above example is a more light-hearted idea than the one Open Bionics’ had when they started developing hand prostheses for children who still were growing. They created the electronic interface between prosthesis and brain but let people 3D print their own limbs as they grew or just felt bored with the one they had.  When I attended their presentation  they had just gotten the rights to let their users create arms and hands from Disney’s “Frozen”, Marvel’s (?) “Iron Man” and the white Stormtroopers from Star Wars.  The “cool factor” made young amputees wear their protheses readily.  This was not the case when they looked like a plastic trowels.  Open Bionics’ electronics interface could just be transferred from the old to the new hardware.

Another example is creating houses by 3D printing using cement and ground-up building rubbish as extruded wall material.  In China it is a £ multi billion industry.  It is not really backed here as it would severely impact the building industry and the need for mortgages.

russias-first-3d-printed-house

This small Russian house was berected in 24 hours and cost £8288 with a finished hallway, bathroom, kitchen and living room.  The financial incentive to block this development   (£190 Sq. m) in new construction is probably both strong and futile.

Future Liverpool

20171204_14281520171113_16205320171204_153646After viewing the Future Aleppo exhibition we decided to consider past and future Liverpool. We chose a building ( I chose the iconic Cavern) and made a cardboard model, which we converted to a 3D digital model by taking numerous photographs which we uploaded onto a website.   The group then made a map of Liverpool and placed the different models on it. Neil uploaded all the 3D digital models onto a digital copy of our map and we could negotiate this and add  audio

The Aleppo Project

I enjoyed learning about the Aleppo project and trying to recreate some of the models in our own way, then by using camera’s and computers we transferred the finished work on to the computer to show the work in photogrammetry.

I also enjoyed interviewing other members of the group who gave their views on Aleppo and discussed the parts of Liverpool that they had made into models, a few of the group had made additions to their models to make the project more interesting.  It was interesting to hear their views and I felt that I learnt more about their ideas and and how they felt about the group and learning new technology,  interviewing gives you the chance to listen and take in others people views and is a good way of probing others to bring out their personalities.

Its really interesting to learn about different forms of art and artists and the tutors of the group are very patient in explaining how we go about it.   It has given me more insight into the world around us and I was also really impressed by the young boy who took on the original project in Aleppo and hope he is given some help and guidance to use his skills in his adult life.
